The Orchard - Update 

Shield has officially opened the next stage in the Orchard's development, a brand new therapies suite, which consists of six therapy pods. The newly named Carey Centre was opened on the 14th August 2009, by Bob Carey. The Orchard, based in Sheffield's City Centre, will be fully open to the general public, as well as all the clients of Shield.

We are currently looking for therapists in the South Yorkshire area to come and visit the Carey Centre to see our new facilities, and have a chat with us if you would be interested in working with us.

The Peak of Fitness Challenge

Swim the equivalent distance from our brand new facility ‘The Orchard’ in Sheffield to Buxton across the tops of the peak district (not literally!) but in the comfort of your local pool!!

26 miles to swim and 12 weeks to do it!

You can do it on your own or as part of teams, it’s totally up to you and how comfortable you feel swimming the distance!

Depending on the size of your local pool will determine how many lengths you need to do to complete the challenge overall, the grid below gives the lengths for the most likely lengths of pools around the UK!

All the money raised from sponsors will go to Shield. It will help us to continue our work, as well as developing new facilities at ‘The Orchard’ which will be open to the public as well as clients. Although the event has already started, you can still join in! Give yourself 3 months from your sign up date, and thats your target.
