st judes project

about the st jude’s project
The incidence of new diagnoses in South Yorkshire is 1.76 times the national average. Shield’s membership and activities have grown exponentially in the past couple of years, in relation to the greater number of people from every social background, making it important to consider long-term solutions to HIV awareness and educational programmes, wellbeing and working with HIV services in alleviating the social impact of living with HIV on our members in South Yorkshire.
The St Jude’s project is a Futurebuilders England sponsored project and is first and foremost aimed at securing a sustainable long term future for the work that Shield does as a support agency across South Yorkshire for people living with or affected by HIV / AIDS. It is a nationally unprecedented, multi-phase project with a total budget of £1.7 million pounds. Funding for the first phase of the project has been approved for £835 000, but its release is conditional on Shield raising £130,000, towards which Shield has currently raised over £40,000.
